Beat Creators - Instrumentals from Audible Doctor, Kosyne, Jas Beats, Pro P & Seattle Sans

A few hungry beat makers/producers/instrumentalists have sent through things for the blog recently, and I also get sent a lot of work from producers selling me their wares as part of their business promotion. Fair play all round, so thought I'd do a couple of posts highlighting some of these new school architects of hiphop music plus a couple of cats from the UK I've appreciated over the years. This is Part One so if anyone wants shine in Part Two holla at solocypher@gmail.com. To pay dues, gotta start off a post of this kind with the work of Audible Doctor; this tape from 2011 has some gems but dont forget to check out his more recent work too...I have no idea what his terms and conditions are but if you just want some great beats to freestyle over get familiar...

The Eat Good Family out of Birmingham, UK have been providing consistent quality over the years and stellar beats have emerged from the ingenious melting pot of Louis' Den. Eat Good's rhyming and beat producing heavyweight Kosyne, has been (excuse the pun) been instrumental in all this, however it was only in April this year that he released his own beat project. Some very creative and funky styles are given great exposure here, the dreamscape sonics of 'The God 'Shif a particular highlight.



And keeping to the shores of Albion, Manchester's Pro P has been pumping out classic headnod boom bap beats since at least 2009. Check out his catalogue of beats and collaborative projects here. In the meantime get some homies round for a cypher over the menacing vibes of 'Rep My Crew' from Volume 5 of his Boom Bap Tape series. Jas Beats

16 Year old Jasmine Pope aka Jas Beats has got a pretty comprehensive Sound Cloud page showcasing her pretty impressive work. Some nice use of samples are made to get you in the mood with theme ready beats...




Seattle Sans 



Some deliciously dusty samples and production here, this one's definitely for the old school mellow heads although with the right emcee these could potentially be some classics...

 Maskerade Beats

Not a lot that immediately appealed to me as a lot on here has more of an RnB vibe so I ain't hating; Zoning out to 'See Through' beat though so worth checking out.

 Not my usual cup of tea but I guess in this day and age people may well be after some demented loony space age trap style music, and this is the sort of businiss DJ CPO seves up with aplomb.

GTS Mob, Audible Doctor, Guilty Simpson & Freddro Starr

GTS Mob have created a UK summertime anthem over a very nice laid back beat produced by Big Dockz who spits alongside Crime, and I have to agree that their stated aim "to capture the sunshine, good vibes and fun times we look forward to every year" comes through especially with lines like "We were having fun till the feds come" and "Season up the Best Grub" and is evidenced next to a poignent Coke bottle bigging up "Mum". However the darker side of London life is reflected with numerous references to gang culture and guns, and for me some of this gave me pause for thought as to whether I should post the video, so I appraoched Big Dockz from the team who reflected "We intentionally made casual references especially in the chorus to show the harsh reality that as much good that goes on in our summer in an instant one of us could be gone. Some of my circle aren't here due to this reality already hence why in my verse I said 'praying all my donnys see the next one' we are detailing our own reality." This caveat rang true for me in a way that highlights the differences in life and perspectives that make up UK street and hiphop culture, and one that this blog can't afford to deny.

Over the ocean, Audible Doctor has as ever been cooking up treats and the latest features heavyweight Guilty Simpson on another solid headnodder.

 

 

Next up, from the Press Release...."Hailing from Hollygrove, the artists of 0017th return with visuals for their latest release, "Black Man," which illustrates the hardships that can come along with being an African-American man in the land of the free. 

The recent shooting of Mike Brown closely mirrors the murder of their childhood friend and Hollygrove native, Keith "Magic" Atkinson. Atkinson made headlines as Lil Wayne's friend who was unlawfully killed by NOPD the morning after they had reunited in celebration. "Black Man" is a powerful tribute to Michael Brown, Keith "Magic" Atkinson, and the thousands of others murdered just because of the color of their skin."...... ..I've finished off with Fredro Starr's "Made in the Streets" track taken from the album of the same name which has just been released on CD, and paints some powerfully devastating portraits of race related violence.

Fredro Starr, Granville Sessions, Audible Doctor, Professor Green

As a long time Onyx fan its great to see Fredro Starr bringing some New York perpsective to a haunting Audible Doctor banger. Fredro is introspective to an extent I'm not used to hearing as he's seperated from his Onyx brethren, though the hard street description means you're never spearated from the groups essence, built from a town where "You gotta have street smarts". Freddro paints a picture of his environment in which he is more than comfortable, tripling his cash through sports betting and coke dealing, atestamernt to a street life committed to getting paper running directly parrallel to the legitimised nexas of high finance "New York stand strong like that Bull on Wall Street" head nod shit for real. 

Repping the London scene on a regualr basis with ill shows accross the capital, with a contant thread of banging beats, introspective and entertaining lyrics delivered with razor shar precision reminicisnct of the best of the boom bap ere, the boys from Granville have delivered a great new album with the lead single presented here in a classic video, with fellow ill spitters Jester Jacobs and Oliver Sudden enhancing the vibe in thier inimitable style.



Audible Doctor is bringing the heat repping' 100 Mad but also is gearing up for his latest project the EP "Summer Tape"....showcasing Oddisee and Hassaan Mackey on "The Vibe" "Read between the raps to find the greater truth, within the lines"



After not checking Professor Green for a while, I was very impressed with track"Read all about it" which features Emile Sande in a track that is incredibly honest and powerful

 

Audible Doctor "I think that..." EP

Audible Doctor has been behind an awful lot of goodness recently so I was excited to hear of the release of this EP; with features from legends Wise Intelligent, Blacastan and Elzhi this is quality from start to finish. Audible come through consistently heavyweight on the mic, and as the man creating many of the beats this EP is an individual tour de force that is perfectly complemented by production and lyrical assists.
